Ruky About

Ok here goes, I am just another girl from a little town called Eku in Delta State. My ❤️ love for music began right from when I was about 5 or 6, thanks to my parents who showered us with lots of music 🎶.They did not know how deeply passionate I was about music, until after I finished school ( also thanks to them) and decided to try it out. Contesting for the Mtn Project fame 2014, and finishing 1st runner up, began my journey into the music industry. Shortly afterwards, I joined a girl band consisting of my Sister and my Cousin called R-Cube and in 2015 released our debut song/ video titled "Show Dem" under 960 Music group. We were opportune to perform at couple events like industry night along side Cynthia Morgan, Phyno, lil kesh. Also at Freedom Hall's Women Arise Concert along side Ruby Gyang, Esther and Oyinkan. At Felaboration in 2016 and at the few other appearances. Although come late 2016, the group R-cube decided to take a break apart to pursue individual goals. I admit, it took me quite a while working on both myself and my first project. I had to overcome my fears and doubts, I had to work past my insecurities to be able to put myself out. However, I always pray to be able to overcome the chaos and the discouragement faced everyday with courage and wisdom, because as Richard M. Devos said, "it is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run, impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle." The journey to 'Brave love' began with, putting aside self doubt, absolute determination and a deep desire to go for what I really love. And painfully yes, that means making sacrifices, experiencing life, with all its beauty and all its ugliness. To be brave is to love, to be brave is to fight for something or someone worth it. To be brave enough to come out of your comfort zone to experience something new, to be brave enough to let go of self and ego to become a better version of you. On this first E.p, most of my lyrics centered around being aware of my present surroundings, acknowledging dark moments I felt in my life where things didn't go as planned and hoped for, not loosing hope or giving up, and also learning to love and accepting who I am, where I come from and how blessed I am. My sound is inspired from a bit of soft ballads, infused with Afro funk beats and lots of experimenting with simple melodies. This is dedicated to the beautiful souls out there, who have felt like they are misfits that they never fit in; for those who want to find and give love. And for those who believe that they are beings who are capable of so much more, I call them "beautiful anomalies". It's time we let love in,and let it out. Venture into A brave new you. Much love ❤️ 💖💝 Xoxo Rukevwe A.K.A Ruky 😏
